The First Feast of The Lord

The First Feast Of The Lord

There are 7 Feasts of The Lord in God’s word and these feast are called THE APPOINTED TIMES OF THE LORD. In Leviticus 23:1-2  it says…”1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2. Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are MY FEASTS.

These 7  Feasts Of The Lord are Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, and the Feast of Weeks also called Pentecost.  There is also the Feast of Trumpets, the Feast of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles.

The first 4 feasts occur in the Spring, and the final 3 feasts occur in the Fall, and this week we will focus on the first 4 feasts and see how they apply to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ since He declared them as His Feasts.

I’m also going to show the events that took place in the Bible where these Feasts originated, and show how our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ fulfilled these Feasts during His Earthly Ministry.  I know that this will be exciting to read.

One thing that I find VERY INTERESTING is that before The Lord goes into the 7 Feasts that He says this in Leviticus 23:3….”3. Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.”

The Lord makes a point to Israel that no work can be done on the Sabbath Day before He covers the different Feast Of The Lord. Why does He do that? I believe that is The Lord’s way of pointing out that NO AMOUNT OF WORK ON OUR PART will get us eternal life.

In Ephesians 2:8-9 Paul says…”8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The Apostle Paul also says this in Romans 4:5...,”But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”

AS YOU CAN SEE...THE LORD WANTS US TO KNOW THAT WORKS WILL NOT PLAY A PART IN WHETHER WE ARE SAVED OR NOT.  BELIEVING THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND ROSE AGAIN IS WHAT GIVES US EVERLASTING LIFE!!!

Paul confirms this in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 when he says….”1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures

Finally, it is clear that The Lord requires none of our works to receive Everlasting Life.  All The Lord requires for Salvation and Forgiveness Of Sins is that we believe that He died for our sins, was buried, and ROSE AGAIN FROM THE DEAD!!!

AMEN…..NOW HERE WE GO WITH THE FEASTS OF THE LORD!!!!

THE FEAST OF PASSOVER

Exodus 12:3-7...”3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4. And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. 5. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6. And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. 7. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.”

Exodus 12:12-14….”12. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 13. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. 14. And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever”

This is where The Lord explained the feast of Passover for the first time.  There are some important things I want to point out.

  1. They took a lamb into their home on the 10th Day which is the SAME DAY Jesus Christ The Lamb of God entered Jerusalem on what we call Palm Sunday.

  1. The lamb was to be without blemish just like Jesus Christ was without blemish. Check out Hebrews 9:14...”how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.”

  1. Verse 6 points out that on the 14th of this month the WHOLE CONGREGATION OF ISRAEL would kill the lamb, and put the blood over their door which is the same day that Jesus Christ was crucified.

  1. Verses 12 and 13 show how any door that doesn’t have the blood at the top of the door will have their firstborn child killed.  Jesus Christ is the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON of God, and Jesus Christ didn’t shed His Precious Blood to save Himself.....He shed it to Save those who believe in Him.  So Jesus Christ “The Firstborn From The Dead” dies so we can have life and all the firstborn in Egypt died so Israel could be set free!!!

Here’s the verse about Jesus Christ being the Firstborn from the dead.

Colossians 1:18-20.....”18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Here are some verses that show our Savior Jesus Christ being referred to as The Lamb as well.

Revelation 12:11-12….”11. They triumphed over him “Satan”  by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. 12.  Therefore rejoice, you heaven and you who dwell in them!

John 1:29….”29.  The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Revelation 17:14…”14. They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

The Feast Of Passover is a portrait of the salvation that came through Jesus Christ’s Death, along with the shedding of The Blood of Jesus Christ.

Another Interesting Connection Between the First Passover In Egypt and The Crucifixion Passover is that Pharoah and the people in Egypt were rushing the Israelites out of the land.

Check out Exodus 12:29-33   “29. At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well 30. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead. 31 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. 32. Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me.” 33.The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country. “For otherwise,” they said, “we will all die!”

LOOK AT THE EVENTS AT THE END OF JESUS CHRIST’S CRUCIFIXION

John 19:28-37….”28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29. A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. 33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water .35 The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe .36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken, 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”

AS YOU CAN SEE JUST LIKE THE ISRAELITES WERE RUSHED OUT OF EGYPT…...OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST WAS RUSHED OFF THE CROSS, AND THAT TAKES US TO THE 2ND FEAST OF THE LORD.  THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD
